Indoor Play
Our imaginative, role play area is chosen by the children, based on their interests and created with them, giving a sense of ownership. Language is developed with the use of stories, poems, rhymes and role play, using our range of hand and finger puppets, dressing-up materials and creative masks to stimulate good oral language and co-operative play.

Parten's Stages of Play
(2-5 years)
1. Unoccupied Play - Child is observing rather than playing.
2 Solitary Play - Independent from others. Plays alone, not yet interested in other children's play.
3. Onlooker Play - Child watches other children play but does not join in but may engage in conversation.
4. Parallel Play - Child plays separately but alongside others mimicking their actions. Transitory stage from solitary to socially mature co-operative play.
5. Associative Play - Child is interested in the children playing but not the activity. Social interaction, but activities not
co-ordinated.
6. Co-Operative Play - Activity organised with assigned roles. Child displays self-identification, social maturity and advanced organisational skills.

Whole body movement....From caterpillars to butterflies!

Caterpillars and Butterflies
Our Caterpillars are our little 3 year olds who will grow up to be our 4 and 5 year old Butterflies. Our observations of each child in their play enables us to assess which stage of play they are at and hence provide the best opportunities for them to move through these stages at their own individual pace.

Meet Kevin and Juliet our class puppets. They help the children resolve conflicts and express their emotions.
